Set in a heritage district of Westmount, this renovation and rear extension seeks a balance between the historic character of a single-family home and the contemporary needs of its occupants. Developed in close collaboration with the City, the intervention builds on the existing architecture: the original window pattern and brickwork are preserved, maintaining the character of the home.

The extension accommodates a new open kitchen, organized around a large island that has become the heart of family life. Wide openings strengthen the connection to the garden and bring natural light deep into the living spaces. Beyond the added floor area, the project reworks the interior layout to improve circulation and strengthen the connections between living spaces.

Through a measured exterior intervention and a targeted transformation of the interior, the project renews the experience of the home while preserving its heritage character.
